Box Score MISSOULA, Mont. - The Southern Utah University women's basketball team wrapped up a five-game road stretch Saturday afternoon with a 81-71 loss to the Montana Grizzlies.
The Thunderbirds scored just 28 points in the opening half in Dahlberg Arena and found themselves down 41-28 at the halftime break. Rebecca Cardenas and Breanu Reid each had eight first-half points and Whitney Johnson had six first-half rebounds.
The Lady T-Birds put up a fight in the second half, scoring 20+ points in each of the final quarters. A Cardenas jumper in the third quarter cut the Grizzlies' lead to just five points, but that was as close as the Thunderbirds would get as they fell to Montana 81-71.
Cardenas led all scorers in the game with a career-high 22 points. She also had eight rebounds and five steals on the night. Reid was right behind her with 19 points of her own.
The Thunderbirds will return home next week as they host Idaho State and Weber State.
