Box Score CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Thunderbird women's basketball team hosted the Weber State Wildcats Saturday afternoon for their fourth Big Sky Conference contest. The Thunderbirds led at halftime, but ultimately fell to the Wildcats 77-64.
Both sides got off to a slow start in the first quarter. The Wildcats put up 12 points and held the Thunderbirds to just eight points. Things really picked up for the Southern Utah offense in the second quarter as they came out and scored 26 points in the period. Natalie Sanchez had nine points as the Thunderbirds jumped out to a 34-30 halftime lead.
Weber State answered back in the third quarter as they put up 28 points of their own while holding the Thunderbirds to 16. Down eight points, Southern Utah rallied in the fourth quarter, but weren't able to keep the Wildcat offense from scoring as they lost 77-64.
Breanu Reid led the Thunderbird offense in scoring with 17 points on the night. Sanchez finished with 15 and Ashley Larsen was able to put up 10. Sanchez and Larsen also both finished with seven rebounds.
The Thunderbirds will take on the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona next Saturday in Flagstaff.
