The Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League have named Southern Utah incoming women's basketball player Lori Parkinson the High School
Prep Ironman Athlete of the Year. She had previously been honored as the Ironman of the Week by the same organization.
Parkinson prepped at Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah where she proved her
dominance on the court as a senior, earning 4A Defensive Most Valuable
Player honors. She led the entire state of Utah in rebounding (15.7 ppg)
and steals (6.0 spg) while directing Cyrpus to a state playoff berth.
Not to be outdone on offense, Parkinson was also one of the 4A
division's leading scorers (14.6 ppg). She committed to play at SUU earlier this year.
In the Arena Football League, the Ironman Award is given to the player that goes above and beyond to help lead their team to victory in multiple facets of the game.
Parkinson will join a Thunderbird team that will look to make a splash in its first season of competition in the Big Sky Conference this fall.
