Brent Springall

Brent Springall joined the Thunderbird track and field program in 2008. Springall competed primarily as a multi-event athlete, competing in the heptathlon and decathlon, as well as in individual jumps, throws and sprints events. Often leading the Thunderbirds in the multi events, Springall earned all-Summit League recognition and posted several records for Southern Utah, including top-three scores in the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon. 

Springall began working as an assistant coach with Southern Utah during the 2011-12 season, coaching the jumps and multi event athletes and completing other assigned duties within the track and field program.  In 2013-2014 Springall began coaching the sprints and multi-event athletes.

During his time at Southern Utah, Brent has coached two NCAA National Qualifier, eight NCAA West Regional Qualifiers,14 All Conference athletes.  Springall has also coached 22 school record holders including two Big Sky All Time record holders, 3 Big Sky Championship record holders and 2 Big Sky MVP's and Most Outstanding Performers.

One of Southern Utah’s best athletes, Tre James, has been trained by Springall. Under his coaching, James broke the school record in both the 60-meter and the 200-meter. James has also claimed Big Sky Champion in between indoor and outdoor track by Springall’s coaching.

Springall graduated from Southern Utah with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a masters in sports conditioning.
