BOULDER, Colo. - Dec. 28 - Southern Utah women's basketball fell at its second Big 12 foe of the year in an 81-38 loss at the hands of the Colorado Buffaloes on Friday night. The setback drops the Thunderbirds to 2-9 on the year while CU improves to 9-2.

Freshman Challis Pascucci turned in the first field goal of the game to give Southern Utah its first lead of the game.  However, five minutes later the Buffaloes built their first double-digit lead of the game following a 14-2 run.  SUU countered with its own run to trim the lead to five, but it was the closest the Thunderbirds came as Colorado built another double-digit lead capped by a 15-2 run in the final four minutes of the half.

The deficit continued to grow in the second half as Southern Utah shooters cooled off and Colorado shooters turned up the heat.  SUU shot 31 percent in the final 20 minutes without a 3-point bucket as the Buffaloes connected on 54 percent from the field, including 61 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

Freshman Kaila Goff led all Thunderbird scorers with seven points and a team-high four assists.  Anne Westwood and Caitlyn Sears were close behind with six points with Westwood filling out the box score with a game-high eight rebounds.  Colorado's Jackie McFarland led all scorers with 22 points, followed by CU's Brittany Spears with 17 and Bianca Smith with 12.

Southern Utah will now return to the friendly confines of the Centrum Arena for five games in a week, beginning with a New Year's Eve matin?e with the Vikings of Portland State on Monday, Dec. 31.  Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
