TEMPE, ARIZ. – February 12, 2010 – In the second day of the
Kajikawa Classic, the Texas Tech Red Raiders used the long-ball to make quick
work of the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, winning 9-1.
In all the Raiders belted five homers, including two by
third basemen Emily Bledsoe. Mikey
Kenney, Holley Gentsch and Raven Richardson also hit round trippers in route to
the five inning, mercy-rule shortened conclusion.
The lone Thunderbird run came in the third inning when
senior center fielder Norian James doubled in Stephanie DeJesus, who had led
the inning off with a single.
The third inning hits by James and DeJesus would amount to
the only Thunderbird hits of the ball game.
The Thunderbirds started the 2010 season off with a 7-6 win
over Ohio yesterday.
On Saturday, the 'Birds meet San Diego State at 10:00am, and
Cal State-Fullerton at 12:30. The
Kajikawa Classic, hosted by Arizona State runs through Sunday.
