CEDAR CITY, Utah - Feb. 8 - Southern Utah senior Elise Wheeler has been named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week after sweeping every individual title in SUU's victory over Kent State on Saturday night.

Wheeler led the Thunderbirds in every event with a 9.875 on vault, 9.800 on bars, 9.850 on beam, 9.900 on floor and a 39.425 in the all-around.  Her scores on vault, beam, floor and in the all-around marked season-bests for the San Diego native and helped the T-Birds record a season-best team score of 195.275.  Wheeler's mark of 39.425 in the all-around is the second highest in school history, one-tenth short of her school record of 39.525.

Southern Utah will be back in action on Monday, February 15 when the Thunderbirds face the Utah State Aggies for the second time this season.  The meet in Logan is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Spectrum Arena.
