FARGO, N.D. - April 23 - Southern Utah softball came up
empty in the first two games of a three-game series at North Dakota State. Friday's doubleheader went to the Bison
7-0, 8-0.
Bison batters took little time getting on the board with a
first inning, lead-off home run.
In all NDSU tallied just six game one hits against starter Kristina Brooks and reliever Kara Bendt, but were able to convert the half-dozen smacks
into seven runs.
Bison pitcher Whitney Johnson went the distance in game one
scattering four Thunderbird hits, and striking out nine.
Nicole Huntsman accounted for two of the four Thunderbird
hits with a single in the fourth, and another in the seventh. Huntsman also drew a
base-on-balls-reaching base on every at-bat.
Brittany Henderson and Ariel Morbeck had the other Southern
Utah hits.
Bison pitching continued to stymie SUU bats in game two,
holding the Birds to just three hits-a single by Jenavieve Purcell, a double
for Aly Daniels, and a bunt single by Stephanie DeJesus.
Bison bats, on the other hand heated up for 12 hits in the
second game.
Scoring came in twos-two in the first, third, fourth, and
sixth innings to take the 8-0, walk off victory.
The same teams play a single game on Saturday to conclude
the series.
