Michaela Chernoch Named WAC Specialist of the Week

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Jan. 31 - Southern Utah University junior Michaela Chernoch has been named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist after scoring a career-high 9.900 at Utah State last weekend. The award is the first for Chernoch this season and second for a Thunderbird in 2012.

The performance propelled the Naples, Florida native to a first-place finish on the event and helped to contribute to her career-high all-around score of 39.050. The floor title was her second of the season as Southern Utah posted victories over Utah State and No. 13 Boise State at the meet.

Chernoch and the rest of the Flippin' Birds will be back in action this weekend with competitions on Friday and Sunday in California. SUU will meet Sacramento State on Friday and San Jose State on Sunday afternoon.
