CEDAR CITY, Utah, Feb. 8 - Thirteen Southern Utah
University football players have earned academic all-conference honors from the
Great West Conference, it was announced today.
Leading the way for the second straight season is sophomore defensive
tackle Brad Meyer (Boise, Idaho), who completed the fall semester with a
perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in chemistry. Meyer was one of just
six athletes to post a perfect GPA and was one of just two football players to
achieve perfection.
Joining Meyer on the squad are senior linebacker Blake Fenn
(Roosevelt, Utah; physical education and human performance), junior fullback
Dylan Fox (Cedar City, Utah; economics); redshirt freshman defensive lineman Kouri
Jones (Converse, Texas; sociology) and junior defensive end Cody Larsen
(Draper, Utah; management).
Also earning recognition are sophomore cornerback Tyree
Mills (Pasadena, Calif.; Biology/Zoology), senior defensive back Zack Olsen
(Farmington, Utah; accounting), redshirt freshman wide receiver Easton Pedersen
(Highland, Utah; general studies), junior offensive lineman Russell Petersen
(Manti, Utah; physical education and human performance), sophomore linebacker
K.C. Rawlinson (Delta, Utah; biology), senior defensive guard Trevor
Schauerhamer (Salt Lake City, Utah; business administration) and senior safety
Erron Vonner (Toledo, Ohio; information systems).
Fenn, Olsen, Schauerhamer and Vonner all earned their third
academic all-GWC honor, while Larsen, Meyer and Petersen each picked up their
second award.
To be eligible for academic all-GWC honors an athlete must
carry a cumulative GPA of 3.2 and have participated in a minimum of 50 percent
of the team's contests. First-year students and transfer students in their
first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
