COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Southern Utah women's basketball wrapped up the first half of its Air Force matchup with a 37-16 lead and kept the momentum rolling through the second half to snag a big 73-57 win.
After enjoying a 15-2 run to open the game, the Thunderbirds never looked back. Back-to-back three's from Ashleigh Munns and Madison Wright extended Southern Utah's lead to 28-13, which guided the T-Birds to a 37-16 lead at the half.
Southern Utah opened the second half with a 12-5 rally and kept the energy flowing to hold a 20-point lead with just under four minutes to play. Air Force fought back to come within 14 of the T-Birds before Sydnee Taylor finished a layup to tack on the final points of the night to clench a 73-57 win.
Desiree Jackson led the Thunderbirds with 11 points as Jessica Richardson chipped in 10. Madison Wright, Taylor Baird and Iva Georgieva each added eight points in the win.
Southern Utah concludes the Air Force Tournament by facing UC Davis on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. Fans can watch the game via live stat link at suutbirds.com.
