CEDAR CITY, Utah - Sept. 17 - Southern Utah University and Fresno State will both be looking for its first win of the season when the Thunderbirds and Bulldogs meet on the football field Saturday night in Fresno, Calif.

Both teams enter the game 0-3 with SUU starting the year with losses at Nevada (28-19), at Southeastern Louisiana (41-14) and against South Dakota State (26-6). FSU has also opened the year winless with losses at USC (52-13), at Utah (59-27) and against Nebraska (55-19) at home.

Southern Utah head coach Ed Lamb has said that the Thunderbirds lack an identity on offense with questions at quarterback and running back and will be looking for players to take the lead at those positions during practice this week. The quarterback position has been shared between senior Aaron Cantu and transfer Ammon Olsen so far this season. Cantu has the better stats between the two, but has also thrown interceptions inside the Thunderbirds' 10-yard line that were returned for touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.

Running back duties have been shared by Malik Brown, Raysean Pringle, Levi Te'o and Toa Afatasi with the group totaling 351 yards on 73 carries. Pringle leads the team with 30 carries for 198 yards and averages a team-best 6.6 yards per carry.

Southern Utah's offense will meet a Fresno State defense that has allowed opponents to score 55.3 points per game and total 596.3 yards per game.

Kick-off on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (PT) with live stat, live radio and live video links available online at www.suutbirds.com.

Offensively, Brian Burrell leads the Bulldog passing attack with 49 completions on 94 attempts with only one interception. Burrell has totaled 439 yards and three touchdowns and is also second on the team with 81 rushing yards this season. Marteze Waller leads the ground game with 177 yards rushing, averaging 4.7 yards on 38 total carries.
