Albuquerque, New Mexico - The Lady T-Birds fell in their opener of the New Mexico Thanksgiving Tournament, as the New Mexico Lobos outscored SUU 70–48 in The Pit.

The loss marks the fifth straight for the Thunderbirds to start the season, while the Lobos now move to 4–1 in the early season.

Despite some early makes from the T-Birds, the first quarter was controlled by New Mexico and they led 21–10 after the first 10 minutes of play. The Thunderbirds had nine turnovers in the first quarter.

The Lobos were able to control the second quarter as well, holding a 37–20 lead at the half. UNM shot 44 percent from behind the three-point line in the first half, and shot 10 more free throws in the first half than SUU and making nine more.

In the third quarter the Lobos would extend their lead to as many as 26, and in the fourth despite the Thunderbirds pushing late and pushing the Lobo lead down to 15, New Mexico prevailed 70–48.

Ashleigh Munns led the T-Birds in scoring with 14, hitting four shots from behind the three-point line. Breanu Reid had the second highest amount of points for SUU with seven, and three Thunderbirds finished the contest with six.

Four different Thunderbirds led the team in the rebounding category, all pulling down five.

Khadijah Shumpert led the Lobos in scoring with 14 and Cherise Beynon was second on the roster with 12.
