FAQs

What is the Thunderbirds Legends Camp?

  • The Thunderbirds Legends Camp is a two-day experience that allows you inside access to see what it is like to be part of SUU Football. You will participate in practices led by SUU coaches, workout as a team, go to team meetings, and participate in the SUU Legends football game.

What can I expect from participating in the Thunderbirds Legends Camp?

  • Participants can expect an exciting weekend full of intense competition and camaraderie building. Aside from getting one-on-one access to SUU football coaches, participants will also take home SUU football gear previously exclusive to members of the SUU football team.

Where is the camp money going?

  • Camp fees go directly to the SUU football team. Your participation in this camp assists the football program to offset costs involved in equipment, recruiting and travel.

How much does it cost? How much do similar camps cost?

  • The price to participate in the Thunderbirds Legends camp is just $500. This is an all-inclusive price, which includes your hotel and meals. Once you have paid, all you have to do is show up!
  • Similar camps are gaining popularity across the country. Participation in these camps ranges anywhere from $1000-$4000. We have worked hard to be able to offer this discounted price to members of the SUU family because we feel it is important to keep you involved with the SUU athletics program.

Who else will be in attendance?

  • Campers must be 21 or older to participate. Your fellow campers can be former SUU athletes, members of the Thunderbird club, SUU alumni, and anyone else who wants to see what its like to be a Division-I football player.

Is the football game full contact?

  • No, the game will not be full contact. The Legends game will be contact flag football rules. Campers will be outfitted with shorts, t-shirts, helmet, and a set of flags. A certfiied athletic trainer will supervise all physical activities.

What should I bring?

  • You are encouraged to bring anything you would if you were going to the gym or getting ready for an intense workout. We will supply gear for the Legends game (which you get to keep), but you should bring additional workout clothes, athletic shoes and any necessary braces, mouth guards or other safety equipment. Campers can bring their own cleats, but only if they are molded plastic turf cleats, as you will be playing and practicing in Eccles Coliseum. Metal cleats are not permitted on the field.
