CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University's Thunderbird Club and Thunderkids Club are teaming together to host the annual Watermelon Bust present by Lin's Fresh Market.

The Watermelon Bust is slated for Saturday, August 29, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will be held on the football practice fields, the grassy area west of Eccles Coliseum. Student-athletes from each of SUU's sports programs will be on hand to meet with the fans in attendance. The event is completely free to all.

Aside from all-you-can-eat watermelon, activities include: Poster signing from the football and volleyball teams, volleyball pick-up games, football pick-up games, tumbling with the gymnastics team, booths and giveaways from sponsors and a dunk tank.

The Watermelon Bust serves as the kickoff for the Athletic Club's auxiliary organization, the ThunderKids Club. Parents of children ages 12 will have the opportunity to signup their children for the Thunderkids Club during this event. Benefits of joining the Thunderkids Club include half-price admission to football and basketball games, free admission to women's basketball games, gymnastics meets and volleyball games, an official club t-shirt and a sports bag.
