LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Southern Utah University Thunderbirds rounded out the MGM Main Grand Event Tournament with a 94-83 loss to Ball State.

Race Parsons and James McGee led the Thunderbirds in the loss with 28 and 21 points, respectively. Randy Onwuasor led the team in assists with four and blocks with one. McGee led in assists with four.

Southern Utah shot 43.1% from the field to Ball State's 53.6%.

The Thunderbirds took an early lead at 12-3 before a five-point Cardinal run forced a four point game. SUU led just 19-18 with 7:57 to play in the first half before an 8-2 run gave the T-Birds a 27-20 lead with four minutes until halftime.

A Cardinal rally put Ball State in the lead for the first time since the opening minute of the game at 32-31 before both teams fought to tie the game at halftime, 35-35.

SUU took a 41-35 lead to open the second half before an 8-point Cardinal run put Ball State back in the lead. The Thunderbirds pulled within one at 47-46 before the Cardinals rallied for a 59-47 advantage with 10:33 to play.

Ball State held at least a seven point lead throughout the remainder of the game, sealing a 94-83 victory.

Onwuasor suffered an injury in the second half, exiting the game for the remainder of the game. Onwuasor finished the game with just 17 minutes of playing time.

The Thunderbirds led the game for over 20 minutes, and the game was tied for a total of 1:14.

The Thunderbirds break for Thanksgiving before returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 26, as they host Life Pacific at 4:30 p.m. in the Centrum Arena.
