Lady T-Birds Return Home to Host Grizzlies and Bobcats

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Lady T-Birds opened conference play four weeks ago in the state of Montana where they lost to both Montana and Montana State. This week the T-Birds will have a chance at revenge as both the Grizzlies and the Bobcats make the trip south to Cedar City.

Last Time Out

Last week the Thunderbirds were on the road for their second consecutive week as they took on the Vandals of Idaho and the Eastern Washington Eagles. They dropped both games and moved to 2-5 in Big Sky Conference play.

Breanu Reid was the leading scorer in the game against the Vandals, putting up 13 points. Natalie Sanchez led the attack on Saturday against the Eagles, scoring 12 points, all in the second half as the Thunderbirds attempted to comeback after a slow start.

Scouting Report: Montana Grizzlies (9-9, 5-2 BSC)

Since beating the Thunderbirds 81-71 back on December 30, the Grizzlies have won three of their next five games. They picked up wins over North Dakota, Sacramento State, and Portland State. McKenzie Johnston continues to lead the Lady Griz, averaging 11.9 points per game. Jace Henderson is the top rebounder for Montana, averaging 7.9 per game.

With the loss back in December, the Thunderbirds moved to 1-15 all-time against Montana. Their last win came back in 2014 in Cedar City.

Scouting Report: Montana State Bobcats (10-8, 4-3 BSC)

When the Thunderbirds traveled to Bozeman back in December, the Bobcats were in the midst of a 30-game home winning streak. The Portland State Vikings were able to end the streak at 31 games on January 11, defeating the Bobcats 69-60. Since then, Montana State has started a new streak, picking up home wins over Sacramento State and Montana and moving to 4-3 in Big Sky play.

Hannah Caudill, who put up 18 points in the previous meeting between these two teams, is the leading scorer for the Bobcats. She currently averages 12.3 points per game. Madeline Smith is the leading rebounder for MSU, averaging 8.9 per game.
