Thunderbirds Hit 14 Triples, Outgun Life Pacific

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird men's basketball team hit the hardwood in the America First Event Center on Tuesday night for the first time this season, and topped the Life Pacific Warriors 96-53 in exhibition competition.

"It was a good overall team effort," SUU head coach Todd Simon said. "We got 83 minutes out of freshmen which was outstanding and they all played well. We had 23 assists, so we're really bought in sharing the ball and that leads directly to numbers like 14 threes."

The T-Birds were paced by 17 points from Dwayne Morgan, 15 points from Cameron Oluyitan and a double-double from Andre Adams with 13 points and 10 boards.

"It was amazing being back on the court," Oluyitan said after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. "I've been waiting for so long and it was just unreal."

As a team the Thunderbirds shot 52 percent from the field, and 44 percent from three-point range.

The freshmen had a strong presence for the T-Birds on Tuesday as well. Josh Cornish hit four triples to finish with 12 points, and Harrison Butler poured in 10 points in 19 minutes of action.

The T-Birds outscored the Warriors 45-27 in the first half, and kept the momentum rolling in the second half by outpacing Life Pacific 51-26.

In total five Thunderbirds scored in double-figures on the evening.

SUU will be back at home for their regular season opener on November 6, when the play host to West Coast Baptist College inside the America First Event Center.
