DAVIS, Calif. - The Southern Utah women's basketball team wrapped up a three-game road stretch Friday night in Davis, California. The Lady T-Birds dropped their third straight contest to the UC Davis Aggies, 45-68.
The Thunderbirds got off to a slow start, allowing the Aggie to go on a 9-2 run to open the game. Hannah Robins would break the run with a jumper with 4:52 left in the quarter to make it 9-4 UCD. Unfortunately, that would be the last time SUU would score in the quarter as the Aggies went on to score 14 unanswered points and close out the quarter with a 23-4 lead.
Southern Utah got into more of a rhythm in the second quarter, scoring 14 points after scoring just four in the first. However, they couldn't outpace the Aggies who scored 17 and led 40-18 at the half.
The third quarter was very similar to the second as the Aggies outscored the Thunderbirds 17-13. Southern Utah was finally able to cut into the lead in the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to make it 64-43 with 2:00 remaining. They wouldn't be able to keep the momentum going however, as the Aggies came away with the 68-45 victory.
Rebecca Cardenas led the Thunderbirds with 10 points and six rebounds. Breanu Reid had nine points and Geassy Germano had eight.
UCD's Morgan Bertsch led all scorers with 17 points.
The Thunderbirds will return home next week to host BYU on Tuesday November 27 at 6:30 p.m.
