Thunderbirds Return Home for Big Sky Matchups With Bengals and Wildcats

CEDAR CITY, Utah - It has been almost a month since they played at home, but the Southern Utah women's basketball team will be back inside the America First Event Center this week as they host Idaho State on December 3 and Weber State on December 5.

Last Time Out

The Thunderbirds opened Big Sky play last weekend on the road against Montana and Montana State. The T-Birds dropped both games despite holding a lead in both.

Harley Hansen was the leading scorer for the Thunderbirds in both matchups, scoring 13 points against the Bobcats and 12 points against the Grizzlies. Kiana Thomas also had back-to-back double digit scoring efforts, putting up 12 points on Saturday and 11 points on Monday.

Hansen is now third in the Big Sky in steals, averaging 2.7 per game, and top-20 in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per game.

Scouting Report: Idaho State Bengals (6-5, 1-1 BSC)

The Bengals are 6-5 so far in 2018-19, but have just a 1-3 record on the road with their one win coming against Cal Baptist University to open the season. They opened Big Sky play at home last weekend with a 72-86 loss to Idaho and a 63-48 win over Eastern Washington.

Grace Kenyon leads the Bengals in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.2 ppg and 5.9 rpg.

The Thunderbirds and the Bengals matched up three times last season. The Bengals won two of the three contests including a 59-49 win in the Big Sky Championship Tournament.

Scouting Report: Weber State Wildcats (3-9, 0-2 BSC)

The Wildcats come into the week with a 3-9 record and are currently in the midst of a six game losing streak including two close losses to both EWU and Idaho to open Big Sky play.

Weber State is just 1-4 in road games with their only win coming over Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman is the leading scorer for the Wildcats, averaging 17.3 points per game. Dominique Williams leads the team in rebound with 9.6 per game.

Thursday's game against the Bengals is set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. inside of the AFEC. Saturday's game against the Wildcats is currently set to tip at 2:00 p.m.
