FARMINGTON, Utah -- For the third time of his illustrious career as a Thunderbird, SUU center Zach Larsen has been named to the Big Sky All-Conference First Team. He is one of seven T-Birds to receive some type of honor from the league office.
Larsen was the lone honoree this year to earn his First Team selection. He was a unanimous choice by the coaches. Larsen has been the full time starter at center for the Thunderbirds since he was a freshman, and has been named an All-American by numerous publications through the course of his career.
Both Braxton Jones and Judd Cockett were honored on the Third Team Offense. Cockett was named to the team as a kick returner.
Cockett finished the season with 753 yards on 38 total receptions. He averaged 19.82 yards per return. Jones started every game on the offensive line this season for the Thunderbirds.
Carlton Johnson was named to the Third Team Defense after leading the Thunderbirds in interceptions and earning Player of the Week honors following a two interception performance against Idaho State. He finished the year with three picks and four pass break ups, along with 32 tackles.
Lance Lawson (Wide Receiver), Alex Sims (Outside Linebacker) and AJ Stanley (Defensive Back) were all given the designation of Honorable Mention.
Lawson finished the season with 78 catches for 735 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for two touchdowns and throwing for another.
Sims led the T-Bird defense in total tackles with 81. He also had 5.5 tackles for loss on the year. Stanley was second for the team in total tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
