CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team will open the 2019-20 regular season this Thursday, November 7 against CSU Fullerton. The team will then hit the road for their first road matchup on Saturday, November 9 in Orem against Utah Valley.
Last Time Out
The Lady T-Birds opened their season last Friday with a 104-59 exhibition win over Ottawa University.
Rebecca Cardenas led all scorers with 20 points in the win. She also had four assists and went two-for-four from behind the arc. Harley Hansen followed with 14 points. The senior led the team in assists with five, steals with four, and went six-for-six from the free throw line. Darri Frandsen and Ashley Larsen both led the team in rebounding with seven each.
Scouting Report: CSU Fullerton Titans (0-0)
The Titans opened their season last weekend with an exhibition win over Biola University 84-51. Redshirt junior Raina Perez led the team in points with 16 and fellow redshirt junior Joy Krupa led the team in rebounding with seven.
Perez averaged a team-leading 13 points per game in 2018-19 and was named to the 2019-20 Big West Preseason All-Conference Team.
The Titans finished 14-16 overall and 6-10 in Big West play last season.
Scouting Report: Utah Valley Wolverines (0-1)
The Wolverines opened their 2019-20 season on Tuesday with a 59-51 loss to UC Santa Barbara.
Senior Jordan Holland led the team in scoring and rebounding last season, averaging 13.8 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game.
The Thunderbirds won the last matchup between the two teams 60-59 in Cedar City. It was their first win in the series since 2014-15.
The Wolverines finished 14-16 overall and 8-8 in WAC play last season.
