Lady T-Birds Look to Stay Undefeated at Home Against Golden Eagles, Anteaters

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team is set to host Oral Roberts University on December 3 at noon for their annual Kids Game followed by a Friday matinee game against UC Irvine on December 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Last Time Out

The Lady T-Birds are coming off a week in which they picked up a big win at home over UNLV in overtime before falling to No. 5/7 Oregon State on the road.

Rebecca Cardenas led the Thunderbirds in scoring in the win over UNLV, setting a new career-high of 25 points. She also set new season-highs in rebounding with eight and steals with four. Harley Hansen put up 12 points and Shalyn Fano had 11 for the second-straight game.

Hansen led the Thunderbirds in scoring against the Beavers with 12 points. Cardenas led the team in rebounding with five, but was held to just six points. Darri Frandsen had eight points and was 2-for-2 from the three-point line.

Cardenas leads the Big Sky in scoring after nearly a month of play, averaging 16.8 points per game. The senior is also second in the conference in field goal percentage (.452) and fourth in steals (2.0 spg). Ashley Larsen is 6th in the Big Sky in rebounding, averaging 7.5 per game, and Harley Hansen is 19th in the Big Sky in scoring, averaging 11 points per game.

Scouting Report: Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (4-4)

The Golden Eagles are coming off of a 64-41 win over Sam Houston State last Saturday in Tulsa. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for ORU, that included big games against No. 23 Arkansas and Kansas State.

Junior Keni Jo Lippe leads ORU and the Summit League in scoring, averaging 20.5 points per game. Senior Montserrat Brotons leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Thunderbirds and the Golden Eagles matched up last year in Oklahoma in a game that ORU won 64-59.

Scouting Report: UC Irvine Anteaters (3-4)

The Anteaters have had a busy non-conference season so far, having competed in the Preseason WNIT and in the Pioneer Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Denver. They are coming off of back-to-back losses over Thanksgiving weekend to both Denver and North Alabama.

Senior Lauren Saiki leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game and 6.7 assists per game. The Anteaters lead the Big West Conference in scoring as a team, averaging 72.3 points per game.

The Thunderbirds and the Anteaters also competed against each other last season in a game that UCI was able to run away with 75-58. The Anteaters will host Portland State Monday before heading to Cedar City.

Game Info

Tuesday's game against the Golden Eagles is set to tip off at noon in the America First Event Center. It will be the T-Birds' annual Kids Game, where all of the local Iron County elementary schools are invited to attend the game for a midday field trip.
