MOSCOW, Idaho - The Southern Utah women's basketball team wrapped up their final two-game road trip of the season Saturday afternoon with a 49-77 loss to the Idaho Vandals.
The Vandals have now won nine of their last 10 games and have sole possession of the top spot in the Big Sky.
Ashley Larsen led the Thunderbirds with 14 points in the loss. Rebecca Cardenas had 10 points and Claudia Armato had a career-high nine points on 3-for-4 shooting from the three point line.
The Vandals jumped ahead early and never looked back. They held a 6-0 lead after one minute of play and outscored the Thunderbirds 26-11 in the opening quarter.
The T-Birds went into halftime trailing by a score of 40-18.
The Thunderbirds put up 17 points in the third quarter, including a 7-2 run about midway through the period. The Vandals led by as much as 30 in the fourth quarter and finished with the 77-49 win.
The Lady T-Birds will return home next weekend as they host Montana on March 2 and Montana State on March 4.
