MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Thunderbird men's basketball team wrapped up a four game road trip on Monday night in Moscow, where they topped the Idaho Vandals 75-64.
Andre Adams was the story of the night for Southern Utah, finishing a perfect 9-of-9 from the field. He finished with a total of 23 points after also finishing 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Adams also secured 14 rebounds and accounted for two steals in his 28 minutes of action.
"He was fantastic," SUU head coach Todd Simon said after the game. "He was locked in. I thought he had a great response coming off the tough loss at Eastern Washington. I thought he had great preparation for this game and it showed. He made the commitment to go get some rebounds above the rim."
The victory moves the T-Birds back to .500 for the season at 10-10, and 5-6 in Big Sky Conference play.
Adams wasn't alone, as several other T-Birds had solid nights as well. Harrison Butler finished the game with 14 points and eight rebounds. Despite just missing on a double-double, he also accounted for four steals and a block. Butler started just his second career game against the Vandals.
"He's just so active," Simon said. "He gives us another very good rebounder. He had four steals, he gets his hands on balls, he's a dynamic player that's going to have a great career here and he's earned it. He gives us another weapon."
Dre Marin also finished the game with 14 points, and dished out four assists in the process. The sophomore guard barley sat for the T-Birds, appearing in 37 minutes of game time.
Cameron Oluyitan was the fourth T-Bird in double figures, finishing the night with 12 points and hitting 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
The contest stayed relatively close through the first 10 minutes of action, but slowly the T-Birds started to build a lead in the first half and went into the break leading by 12.
In the second half SUU's lead never dipped below seven, and grew to as many as 18 as they cruised to their 10th victory.
There won't be much rest for the T-Birds this week, as they return home this Thursday to host in-state rival Weber State.
