BOISE, Idaho -- The Thunderbird men's basketball team will be back in action at the Big Sky Tournament on Friday night, as the No. 7 seeded T-Birds will take on the No. 3 seeded Eagles of Eastern Washington. This is the second consecutive season the T-Birds have faced off against the Eagles in the Semifinals of the league tournament.
Tournament Stat Leaders
With two games in the books at this year's tournament, junior Jacob Calloway has been the offensive leader for the T-Birds averaging 16 points per game. He's shooting over 60 percent from behind the three point line for SUU.
Brandon Better is second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per contest.
In total, six T-Birds are currently averaging 10 points or more per contest, rounded out by Cameron Oluyitan (13 ppg), Andre Adams (12.5 ppg), Harrison Butler (11.5 ppg) and Ivan Madunic (10 ppg).
As a team the T-Birds are shooting 61 percent from three. They also have 32 assists on 58 made field goals.
Opponent Preview: Eastern Washington (15-17, 12-8 Big Sky)
The Eagles of Eastern Washington reached the Semifinals with a victory over the Montana State Bobcats 90-84.
Mason Peatling led EWU on Thursday night, scoring 28 points for the Eagles. Cody Benzel finished with 22.
This Season vs. The Eagles
The T-Birds and Eagles split the season series, with EWU winning in Cheney and SUU winning in Cedar City.
In Southern Utah's victory over the Eagles Dre Marin had 20 points to lead the way for the Thunderbirds. Calloway also dropped in 17 for the T-Birds.
