CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team will play their final game of the 2018-19 season in Greeley, Colorado Thursday night against the Northern Colorado Bears.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds picked up their seventh win and fourth Big Sky win of the season last Saturday against the University of Montana. They shot 42 percent from the field while holding the Grizzlies to 34 percent. SUU also held Montana to just two threes, one in each half, while forcing 15 Griz turnovers on eight steals.
Southern Utah had four T-Birds finish in double-digits in the win with Breanu Reid and Jessica Chatman leading the way with 15. Rebecca Cardenas and Harley Hansen both finished with 14 points. Hansen and Ashley Larsen both had seven rebounds.
The T-Birds also hosted Montana State on Monday night, but couldn't come away with a victory.
Reid was the leading scorer for the Thunderbirds in the loss with 21 points, one point short of her career high. She also had a season-high four steals, five assists, and three rebounds.
Scouting Report: Northern Colorado Bears (19-8, 14-4 BSC)
The Bears are in the midst of a four-game winning streak, having won their last four against Idaho, Montana, Idaho State, and Weber State. Their last loss came to Eastern Washington on Valentine's Day 76-72.
Senior Savannah Smith is on track to win her second consecutive Big Sky MVP this season. The six-time Big Sky Player of the Week, currently leads the conference in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game. She also leads the conference in field goal percentage (.927), is second in three-pointers made (3.7 per game), and fifth in assists (4.4 per game).
The two teams last met on January 24 in Cedar City with the Bears coming out on top 71-44.
