Northern Colorado Tops Southern Utah in Final Regular Season Contest

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird men's basketball team wrapped up their regular season at home on Thursday night, as they fell to the Northern Colorado Bears 70-53. The T-Birds will now wait for the Big Sky Conference season to come to a close on Saturday, which will determine who they will play in the First Round of the Conference Championship Tournament.

The T-Birds finished the regular season 14-15, with a 9-11 record in the Big Sky Conference.

"The fortunate thing is our BYE comes on Saturday leading up to the tournament, the bad part about that is we just played a million games in not a lot of days," SUU head coach Todd Simon said.

After the first handful of minutes were back-and-forth, the Bears built a 10 point lead using back-to-back threes with 10:06 to play in the first half. UNC continued to ride that momentum for the following 10 minutes, and took a twenty-point advantage into the halftime break, 43-23.

Despite outscoring the Bears 30-27 in the second half, the T-Birds were never able to pull closer than 14 and eventually fell to their Big Sky foe on Senior Night.

Harrison Butler led the T-Birds in scoring with 12 on the night. Dre Marin pitched in 11 while Cameron Oluyitan had 10 for SUU.

Jordan Davis was the top scorer for Northern Colorado, dropping in 28 points.

Southern Utah's seeding and matchup will be determined Saturday for the first Boise, Idaho edition of the Big Sky Conference Championship Tournament.
