CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird football program and head coach Demario Warren have announced the hiring of Matt Wade as the program's new Offensive Coordinator.
Wade has spent the previous seven seasons with the University of Pacific, most recently serving as the team's Offensive Coordinator, Quarterbacks Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
"I am excited to work alongside Matt, he set the standard throughout the entire interview process," Warren said. "His teaching ability and his preparation really shined through. I'm excited to see our offense get on the field for the start of spring ball, March 11."
While at Pacific, the Boxers found a lot of success on the offensive side of the ball. In 2019 the group set multiple school records, including yards per game (454.5 yards), points per game (34.7), rushing yards per game (187.2) and passing yards per game (267.3).
The offense also ranked seventh in the country in third down conversion percentage, while quarterback Kenyon Harris led the country in completion percentage.
In 2015, under his tutelage, quarterback Warner Shaw was named second team All-Northwest Conference. He broke Pacific's single-season mark for touchdown passes thrown (23) and left the program at it's all-time leader in completion percentage (.669). In 2015, he completed 187 of 284 passes for 2,3965 yards with only six interceptions.
Before his time at Pacific, Wade spent time at UC Davis in multiple positions from 2007-12. Before making the transition to Pacific, he was the Aggie's Tight Ends Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
Wade earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from St. Mary's College, and a Master's Degree in Education from Chapman University College.
