COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Southern Utah University Thunderbird women's tennis team defeated Coppin State University 7-0 to claim their first season victory in a two match weekend. The T-Birds also faced University of Maryland, but found defeat 1-6.

The women secured their first victory of the 2020 campaign against Coppin State University 7-0. 

Daniela Cozzi and Zoe Tanti started doubles play with a win against Coppin State 6-1. Georgia Hosking also contributed to the Thunderbird victory in singles play. Hosking finished the singles match 6-0, 6-1.

Alexandra Ngo also secured points for the Thunderbirds in singles play. Ngo won the match against Coppin State 6-0, 6-1.

The T-Birds first faced University of Maryland first where they fell 1-6. Jessica Stefan secured points for the team in singles play where she defeated Chloe Hamlin 6-7, 6-2, 10-4.

The Thunderbirds will be competing next at Utah State University on February 2.
