Lady T-Birds Return to America First Event Center to Host Idaho State

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team will host their second Big Sky game of the season Thursday night as Idaho State comes to town on January 9.

Last Time Out

The Thunderbirds dropped both of their games last weekend, 74-81 to Montana and 65-91 to Montana State.

The Thunderbirds were down 14 points at the end of the first quarter to the Grizzlies and were able to come all the way back to take a one-point lead with 4:03 left in the game, before eventually being downed by the Lady Griz.

Rebecca Cardenas and Harley Hansen led all scorers in the game with 18 points each. They both also had five rebounds and three assists each. Madelyn Eaton was the third Thunderbird in double-digits with 15 points. Jessica Chatman led all rebounders with eight.

Madelyn Eaton was the leading scorer against the Bobcats with 13 points. Cardenas and Hansen each scored 12 points and Jessica Chatman was the leading rebounder with seven.

The T-Birds were held to just 36.7 percent shooting while the Bobcats shot 55.9 percent. The Bobcats also scored 23 points off of turnovers while SUU had just seven.

Scouting Report: Idaho State Bengals (6-6, 2-1 BSC)

After finishing the non-conference season 4-5, the Idaho State Bengals have won two of their first three Big Sky games to bring their overall record to 6-6. They picked up wins over Eastern Washington and Sacramento State last week, 67-47 over the Eagles and 80-62 over the Hornets.

Sophomore Callie Bourne and senior Estefania Ors lead the team in scoring, both averaging 11.3 points per game. Bourne is also the team's leading rebounder, averaging 7.7 per game.

The Bengals have won the last three matchups between the two teams, with the Thunderbirds last winning on January 4 during the 2017-18 season in Cedar City.

Thursday's game is set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. inside the America First Event Center. The game will be streamed live on PlutoTV channel 536 and live stats will be available at tbirdstats.com.
