CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Thunderbird women's basketball team's season opener that was set to take place on Wednesday against the University of Utah has been canceled due to a positive COVID test and subsequent contact tracing protocols from the home team.

According to a press release put out by the University of Utah's athletic department, the team will no longer play their games against the Thunderbirds and Utah Valley set for this week.

The season opener for the Lady T-Birds will now be their Big Sky opener in Missoula on December 3 against Montana.

Potential schedule additions or changes will be announced at a later date.
