CEDAR CITY, Utah - A day removed from having their season opener against the University of Utah canceled, the Southern Utah women's basketball team is now set to open their 2020-21 season against Utah Valley on Saturday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m. in Orem.
COVID Update
Southern Utah was supposed to open their season on Wednesday against the University of Utah, but a positive test within their program caused the Utes to pause all basketball activities. This also meant that Utah's game against UVU scheduled for Saturday would be canceled as well.
With both the Thunderbirds and the Wolverines having their season openers canceled, the door opened for them to play each other in Orem.
Scouting Report: Utah Valley Wolverines
The Wolverines finished the 2019-20 season 12-16 overall and had a 9-6 record in conference play, good enough for a second place finish in the WAC.
The team was picked to win the conference in the 2020-21 Preseason Coaches' Poll and juniors Josie Williams and Maria Carvalho were named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-WAC First Team. Williams was the third leading scorer for UVU last season, averaging 9.4 points per game.
The Thunderbirds have won the last two matchups between the teams, beating the Wolverines 71-58 last year in Orem.

Saturday's game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m. inside the UCCU Center.
