Thunderbird Football Announces 2020 Football Slate

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird football program and SUU head coach Demario Warren have announced the team's full schedule for the 2020 season.

"We're excited to have the opportunity to play the teams that are on our schedule for next season," Warren said. "I know that both fan bases are pretty fired up that we're playing Dixie State again, and being able to play an in-state game against an FBS opponent is always something our players and fans always get excited about. When it comes to the Big Sky, we've got a group of teams on the schedule that won a lot of football games in 2019 and made a statement in the FCS Playoffs, so of course we're looking forward to getting a shot at them."

In a long-awaited matchup, the Thunderbirds will host the Dixie State Trailblazers in their first contest as a Division I program on September 5 in Cedar City. The two teams, which are less than an hour apart, have not played since the 2010 season.

After their home opener, the T-Birds will hit the road to play against the Aggies of Utah State and the Sacramento State Hornets.

The Thunderbirds will host their annual Homecoming Game on September 26, when the Eagles of Eastern Washington visit Cedar City. The following week the T-Birds will also host the Vikings of Portland State.

Following a BYE week, the T-Birds will fight to retain the Grand Canyon Trophy against Northern Arizona, as they'll face off in Flagstaff.

After that rivalry showdown, Southern Utah will return home for a date with Northern Colorado on October 24.

After back-to-back road trips to square off against Montana and Idaho, the Thunderbirds will return home for an opportunity to win back the Beehive Bowl in a rivalry game against the Weber State Wildcats.

The T-Birds will wrap up their 2020 campaign with a non-conference opponent, as they'll head to Texas for a contest against Abilene Christian.

Season Ticket holders can renew their tickets now by logging into their account at www.tbirdtickets.com. Those that renew season tickets will have priority to purchase single game tickets for Southern Utah's home-opener against Dixie State.
