CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah men's basketball team will continue their long road stretch this week, taking on the Golden Bears of the University of California-Berkeley on Thursday November 18. This game will technically be their first game in the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off as the Thunderbirds will be representing the Palms Division and the Golden Bears will be representing the Beach Division.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds launched their 2021-22 campaign last week with a win over Bethesda University and losses to both Dixie State and Saint Mary's.
Both John Knight III and Dre Marin averaged 15.7 points over those three games and Knight III was the only T-Bird to reach double-digit scoring in all three games. Senior Maizen Fausett has been a force on the glass for the Thunderbirds so far this season, averaging 11.7 rebounds per game. He has matched his career-high twice, pulling down 14 boards against both Bethesda and Saint Mary's.
Fausett currently ranks second in the Big Sky in rebounding and Knight III ranks second in field goal percentage (.563) after the opening week of play.
Scouting Report: University of California Golden Bears (1-2)
The Golden Bears are coming off of a 75-70 win over the University of San Diego on Monday for their first win of the season. Before that they opened the 2021-22 season with losses to UC San Diego and UNLV.
Graduate student Jordan Shepherd is the team's leading scorer, averaging 16.7 points per game. Senior Andre Kelly is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.
In the win over the Toreros, the Golden Bears shot 66.7 percent from beyond the arc, their best three-point performance since 1996-97. Head coach Mark Fox is in his third season at the helm of the program.

Thursday's game is set to tip off at 8:00 p.m. Mountain time (7:00 p.m. Pacific time) inside Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, California. The game will be streamed live on Pac-12 Bay Area and live stats can be found at calbears.com.
