PROVO, Utah. The Southern Utah softball squad took a pair of losses against Boise State and BYU in Provo, Utah today.
The T-Birds opened the day with a pitcher's duel loss against Boise State, 3-0.
Payton Goodrich cruised through the first three innings, giving up no hits in the process.
Boise State, however, took advantage of a Thunderbird error in the bottom of the 4th. Bobbiann Pratt collected BSU's sole hit off Goodrich with a homer to left center to plate a pair of unearned runs to take a 2-0 lead. Boise State tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to close out scoring, 3-0.
Josey White picked up SUU's only hit of the first contest with a single in the top of the fourth. Overall, T-Bird pitchers held Boise State to just two hits, but they were enough to capture the victory for the Broncos.
The following contest featured an in-state competition between SUU and BYU.
BYU brought the bats, taking home an 8-0 victory in six innings. The Thunderbirds closed out the game with a pair of hits as Kalena Shepherd and Makayla Marshall each connected against BYU's Aris Paulson.
Next up, Southern Utah returns home for the first time this season with a 3:00 p.m. MST contest against Dixie State at Kathryn Berg Field in Cedar City, Utah on March 30.
