Defensive Gems Highlight Tough Big Sky Loss

CEDAR CITY, Utah. - The Southern Utah softball team had a few defensive gems to highlight a 10-0 loss to Weber State in the finale of a three-game set against the Wildcats at Kathryn Berg Field in Cedar City.

Southern Utah currently stands second in the Big Sky Conference behind Weber State (11-1) with an 8-4 conference record.

SUU is still in line to pick up a second seed in the Big Sky Conference tournament heading into the stretch of its season.

Gianna Carosone and Dayna Hokanson turned a classic 6-4-3 double play in the top of the second to end the stanza.

Josey White followed with an amazing play in left field to end the fifth frame of action.

Carosone and Mikelle Magalogo collected the two Thunderbird hits, while Tyler Denhart dropped to 8-9 on the season in 2.2 innings pitched.
