Thunderbirds Start as 7th Ranked Team in WAC-ASUN Alliance

CEDAR CITY, Ut - The WAC-ASUN alliance has announced its first joint power rankings of the season. The Thunderbirds, who are in the first year competing as a member of the WAC, make their debut at number seven in the rankings following a hard fought defeat to the second ranked Tarleton Texans.

The T-Birds have already faced off with in-state foe Utah Tech who sits at number nine in the polls. Eastern Kentucky, who the Thunderbirds battled to a 35-28 loss on the road, is a member of the ASUN Conference and owns the number five spot in the combined power rankings.

Southern Utah will take on the fourth ranked Wildcats from Abilene Christian University this weekend in Texas. The Thunderbirds will also match up with the first ranked team from Stephen F.  Austin the following week in Cedar City.

The leader of the WAC-ASUN power rankings at the end of the season will be awarded the automatic qualifier bid to compete in the FCS postseason.
