CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah will travel to take on Colorado State as part of its 2026 nonconference schedule, the school announced Wednesday.
The game is slated to be played on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the kickoff time to be announced at a later date. The contest between the Thunderbirds and Rams will be played at CSU's Canvas Stadium and marks the first time the two schools will meet on the gridiron.
"This will be an exciting opportunity for our student-athletes," said SUU Director of Athletics Debbie Corum. "By the time we play Colorado State, it will be coach Fitzgerald's fifth year and I anticipate that we will be very competitive at this level."
SUU is 1-18 all time against current members of the Mountain West Conference with its lone victory coming at UNLV in 2011 by a score of 41-16. The T-Birds' most recent game against a MWC opponent was the 2021 season opener at San Jose State.
