Men's Basketball Set To Play Two More Contests Before Christmas

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Coming off a buzzer-beating loss last time out to Northern Arizona, the SUU Men's Basketball team will look to get things back on track when they travel to Bozeman Montana to face the Bobcats of Montana State on Tuesday, Dec 19 at 7 p.m. 

They will then return home on Friday, Dec 22 to host Middle Tennessee in the America First Event Center at 6:30 p.m.

Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+


Montana State
The Bobcats are currently 4-5 on the season with a 106-81 win coming against SAGU American Indian College last time out. 

As a team they average 72 points per game and make 10 threes per contest. They are out-rebounded by nearly eight per game and opponents shoot just under 47% from the field. 

The Bobcats are led by Brian Goracke, who had 29 points in their last outing and is averaging just under 15 per game. Robert Ford III is right behind him at 13 points per game and he also leads the team in rebounding at nearly eight per contest, Ford has also collected an impressive 29 steals on the season. Tyler Patterson averages 11 points per game and shoots the three ball just over 40%, he is one of four players who are currently shooting the deep ball better than 35% for the Bobcats. 

Middle Tennessee
The Blue Raiders are 5-6 on the year with impressive wins against Stephen F Austin and Missouri State. Last time out was a 10-point loss to Belmont on Dec 9. They will play at Saint Mary's before making their way to Cedar City. 

Middle Tennessee is averaging 66 points per game while allowing 66.9 to opponents. They are under 30% from three and allow opponents to shoot nearly 47% from the field. They have a +1.6 rebounding differential and average nearly five blocks per game. 

Elias King leads the team at 13.7 points per game on 42% from the field and 37% from three. He also leads the team in total rebounds and rebounds per game at 4.5 per contest. Camryn Weston has only played in three of their contests but averages the second most points at 11 per game. Jestin Porter has played in all 11 games and averages just under 10 points per game. Jared Coleman-Jones leads the team with 18 assists but has given away 37 turnovers on the year. 


"It's tough to lose at the buzzer like we did, but this week will be important for us. Two quality teams and we will need to see if we can bounce back from an emotional loss," said Head Coach Rob Jeter
