CEDAR CITY, Utah - The NCAA gymnastics season is in full swing, and the Flippin' Birds have once again earned weekly conference awards from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Freshman Niya Randolph was named the Gymnast of the Week, while fellow newcomer Brinlee Christensen earned the title Freshman of the Week.

Flippin' Freshman
This award marks the second MPSF Gymnast of the Week honors for Randolph, who also earned the award for her performance at the Super 16 in the first week of the season. Randolph took the all-around title on the road against #20 Iowa, setting a new career best with a 39.325. She tied for first in the bars with 9.850 and tied for second in the vault, scoring 9.825. Randolph also scored a 9.875, matching her career-high and tying for second in the meet.

Southern Utah Freshman Brinlee Christensen has been steadily improving with each week of competition. This week, when the T-Birds competed on the road at Iowa, the freshman from South Jordan, Utah, was invaluable, tying her career-best 9.825 on the floor. Christensen's score helped the Flippin' Birds reach their highest floor total of the season, 49.125.
Next Up
The Flippin' Birds will take on Utah State on the road. The Thunderbirds will square off with the Aggies on Friday, February 2, at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The meet will begin at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on Mountain West Network.
