Flippin' Birds Set to Return to Maverik Center for Best of Utah Meet

Flippin' Birds Gymnastics is Presented by Leavitt Group and Auto-Owners Insurance

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – NCAA Women's Gymnastics returns to the Maverik Center in 2025 with two competitions on Monday, Jan. 20. The Wasatch Classic will kick off the pair of podium events on Martin King Luther Jr. Day at 1 p.m. MT, while the Les Olson IT Best of Utah will be held at 6 p.m. MT. The annual Best of Utah competition, which features all four NCAA gymnastics programs in the state of Utah, will have a new sponsor in 2025 as Les Olson IT makes its imprint on the competition. It will mark the sixth year in a row the four teams in Utah gather at the Maverik Center for the podium competition.

The Wasatch Classic welcomes a pair of Big 12 programs in Iowa State and Arizona State, and a pair of Mountain West programs in Boise State and San Jose State. There will be a presale for school-specific tickets this Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. MT through Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. MT. The general public tickets sale will begin on Friday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. MT. The presale will be $5 off during the allotted window. The Wasatch Classic is free with the purchase of a Best of Utah ticket. It will be general admission seating at the Wasatch Classic, while the Les Olson IT Best of Utah meet will be assigned seating.

LES OLSON IT BEST OF UTAH
Utah has won the past five competitions at the Maverik Center against its in-state foes. The Utes are coming off their fourth-straight season of finishing third at the NCAA Championships. The 2025 roster contains five All-Americans, led by eight-time All-American Grace McCallum, who was a 2020 Tokyo Olympian for Team USA. BYU is coming off a season where it finished ranked No. 25 in the nation, with its highest ranking of the year being No. 19. Last season, Utah State finished second at the inaugural Mountain West Championship. The Aggies are led by all-arounder Brianna Brooks, who was the North Central Region Gymnast of the Year in 2024. Southern Utah finished the 2024 season ranked 27th in the nation and won the MPSF conference championship for the second year in a row. Niya Randolph returns as the team's top all-arounder from last season.

WASATCH CLASSIC
Arizona State is coming off a 2024 season that saw the Sun Devils finish 16 th in the nation and their sixth- straight postseason appearance. ASU advanced to the regional finals for the third time in the last four years, and will return three key fifth-year seniors in Sarah Clark, Jada Mangahas and Emily White to lead the team in 2025. Iowa State recorded its second-best postseason score in history at last year's NCAA Regional meet in the opening round and finished the season ranked 29 th in the country, which was a 15- spot improvement from the year before. Boise State won the inaugural Mountain West Championship last year and ended the year ranked 33 rd . The Broncos return Emily Lopez, who is an All-American on bars and finished last year ranked 20 th in the nation on the event. San Jose State rounds out the field for the Wasatch Classic and finished the 2024 season ranked 36 th with an appearance at the opening round of regionals. Jaudai Lopes returns as the team's top all-arounder.
