CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University women's basketball team opened their season at the America First Event Center on Wednesday, Oct. 30, playing host to the Ottawa University Spirit.
Head Coach Tracy Mason Said:
"It was good for us to get a game under our belt. I think we did some good things but we also have a lot we need to continue to work on. We've got a tough preseason schedule so it's important we learn from this game and use it to get better."
SUU was led in scoring by newcomer Sydney Gandy, putting up 13 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
The Thunderbirds shot an effective 34% from the field to go along with 32% from beyond the arc. Center Ashley Banks had an effective outing with 10 points on three of four shots, also going 4-4 on free throws.
