CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Basketball team is heading to San Diego, California, for a two-day, two-game tournament against San Diego and Idaho. Both games will be played at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego.

Matchup History
- USD has won both contests against the Thunderbirds. The last time the two teams played was in 2013, when the Torreros won 67-52.
- SUU and Idaho have a long history. This will be their 31st matchup, with SUU having 19 wins to Idaho's 11. SUU is currently on a 10-game winning streak against the Vandals dating back to 2018.
The Thunderbirds (4-1, 0-0 WAC)
SUU is coming off an impressive performance at Loyola-Chicago. They took the lead with just four minutes left but ultimately fell 76-72, recording their first loss of the season.
Jamir Simpson tied his career-high in scoring with a 28-point outburst. He leads the team at 17.6 ppg. Jamari Sibley had another 10-rebound game and now leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game.Â
As a team, the Thunderbirds score 86.8 points per contest, which ranks first in the WAC. They shoot 47% from the field and 34% from three. SUU averages 43 rebounds per game, which is good for second in the conference.
SUU is off to a 4-1 start and has a great opportunity to continue its positive start at the MTE.
Scout The Torreros (1-3, 0-0 WCC)
USD is 1-3 on the year, with their only win coming against Boston University, 74-60. They're averaging just over 70 points per contest while giving up nearly 73. Teams are shooting 42% from the field and 34% from three against the Toreros.Â
Kjay Bradley Jr leads USD with 17.8 points per game on 54% from the field. He's also tied for the team lead with David Simon with six three-pointers made on the season. Kody Clouet is the only other Torrero averaging double-digits, scoring at 10.8.
Santiago Trouet leads the team in rebounding at nine per contest.Â
Scout The Vandals (2-3, 0-0 Big Sky)
Idaho is 2-3 on the year and coming off a big 101-58 win against Evergreen State. The Vandals played BYU well but ultimately lost 95-71 despite just trailing by three at the half.Â
The Vandals average 81 points per game and allow 76. Their opponents shoot 46% from the field and 32% from three.Â
Through five games, Julius Mims leads the Vandals at 13 points per game on 58% from the field. Tyler Mrus isn't far behind at 12.8 points per game on 45% from three, he has made 16 three-pointers this year. Mims also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.4 including 13 total offensive rebounds.
Kolton Mitchell leads the team with 15 assists but has also committed a team-high 14 turnovers.
