CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Basketball team will look to add to its impressive 7-2 record against Park University-Gilbert in the America First Event Center before heading to Arizona to take on the U of A Wildcats.

"We have another opportunity to defend our home court, which we have done a good job of so far this season. And then we head to Arizona for obviously a tough matchup, they are very talented and it gives us a good opportunity to challenge ourselves."

Scout The Buccaneers
The Buccaneers of Park University Gilbert are 2-6 on the season and, most recently, are coming off back-to-back losses to Westminster University. Their two wins on the year came against West Coast Baptist College and at Justice College.
The Bucs are averaging 68 points per game but give up 74. They shoot 43% from the field and an impressive 40% from three.Â
Tanner Pate leads the team at 14 points per game, with Caleb Geisendorfer not far behind at 12.5. Pate also leads the team with 18 three-pointers made on 38%. Geisendorfer averages nearly eight rebounds per game.Â
Three Bucs players have dished at least 18 assists on the year.Â
Park University Gilbert is an NAIA school in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference.
Scout The Wildcats
The University of Arizona Wildcats are 3-4 on the year. They are coming off back-to-back losses to the University of Oklahoma and an overtime loss to West Virginia at the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas. They also have losses at Wisconsin and against 12th-ranked Duke.Â
The Wildcats average 85 points per game and have a scoring margin of +11.3. They shoot 46% from the floor and 31% from three. U of A has an impressive 10.1 rebounding margin. Perhaps what the Thunderbirds may struggle with the most is the 14 turnovers per game that the Wildcats force, which turns into 16.3 points off turnovers per game.Â
All-Star Caleb Love leads the Wildcats, scoring just under 15 points per game on 38/28/89 percent shooting splits. He's also tied for the team lead with 22 assists on the year. Jaden Bradley (13.7) and Trey Townsend (11.1) are the other Wildcats averaging double-digit scoring. Tobe Awaka leads the team at nine rebounds per game. He has 62 total rebounds on the year; 31 are defensive, and 31 are offensive.
Caleb Love and Anthony Dell'Orso are the only players with over 10 three-pointers made on the year.Â
The Thunderbirds
SUU is now 7-2 on the year and a perfect 5-0 at home. The T-Birds 'Big 3' of Jamir Simpson, Dominique Ford, and Tavi Jackson had their best performance of the year against CSUB on Saturday, combining for 55 of SUU's 74 points. The 'big 3' lead the team in scoring and are the top three in assists as well.Â
Simpson averages just under 17 points per game on 46/32/82 percent shooting splits. Ford is averaging 14 points per game, shooting 38% from three. Jackson averages 10 points per game on 56% from the field and has dished a team-high 29 assists.Â
As a team, the Thunderbirds are averaging 78 points per game on 47% from the field. SUU has also done a good job getting to the free-throw line, where they shoot 73%. They have made 162 free throws on the year, while allowing their opponents to attempt just 145. Â
