CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Flippin' Birds have once again grabbed a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation weekly award. Freshman Niya Randolph earned the Gymnast of the Week award for her stellar performance during last week's meet against Boise State. 

Coach Scotty Bauman Said

"Niya is one of the most coachable athletes I have ever worked with. She did great this weekend! Right now, you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg as to what she can accomplish this year." 

Fantastic Freshman 

Southern Utah Freshman Niya Randolph earned her fourth Gymnast of the Week award for her performance against Boise State. Randolph put up significant scores in each of her events during the meet, tying her career-best score in the all-around with a 39.325. Randolph tied her career-best score on the beam with a 9.825. The biggest routine of the meet came in the biggest spot when the T-Birds were trailing with one routine to go. Randolph stepped onto the floor and delivered a show-stopping routine, earning a 9.900 and leading the Flippin' Birds to victory. 

Next Up

The Flippin' Birds are heading to Boise for a Tri-meet against Boise State and Sacramento State this week. The teams will square off on Friday, February 16, at ExtraMile Arena. The meet will begin at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on Mountain West Network.
