HEAD COACH TRACY MASON SAYS

"We are looking forward to being home this week against UT and GCU. Thursday is our pink game, which is a very special night for us as we come together to raise cancer awareness while honoring survivors as well as the loved ones we've lost. We hope that the community and SUU can help us support a cause that is much bigger than basketball."

POWER IN PINK

The Thunderbirds have partnered with Power in Pink to raise cancer awareness during Thursday night's matchup against Utah Tech. Signs will be passed out to those in attendance with a place to write in the name of someone who has battled with cancer. Fans will hold up these signs at the end of the first quarter in a display of support for those who have fought this disease.

In addition, the pink jerseys the Thunderbirds will wear during the game will be auctioned off, with portions of the proceeds going to Power in Pink to help those in need.

WAC STANDINGS

Southern Utah currently ranks seventh overall in the WAC with a 6-14 record and a 4-7 effort in conference play.

This week the Thunderbirds will face the Trailblazers and Lopes, who rank fourth and first overall respectively.

Then, the Thunderbirds responded with an 11-0 sprint highlighted by a pair of three pointers by Samantha Johnston. Southern Utah led 20-15 at the end of the first quarter.

The Thunderbirds relied on a balanced attack as they extended their lead to 58-51 with 5:10 remaining in the fourth period. UTRGV mounted a 11-3 comeback that pushed the Vaqueros in front 62-61 with only 16 seconds remaining.
