Men's Basketball Finishes Season On The Road

CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Basketball team will close out the 2023-24 season on the road as they head to Texas to take on the Lumberjacks of Stephen F Austin on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. before continuing on to Edinburg to challenge the Vaqueros of UTRGV on Saturday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Both games will be available to live stream on ESPN+ or follow along with live stats. 

The Thunderbirds are 9-20 on the season and 4-14 in WAC play. 

The Lumberjacks
SFA sits at 15-14 overall and 8-10 in conference play, currently in a tie for eighth with California Baptist. 

The Lumberjacks won the first meeting in a nail-biter at the AFEC; a layup by AJ Cajuste with four seconds left secured an 84-82 victory for SFA. 

Six players scored double-digits for SUU, with Dominique Ford leading the way with 20. 

Matt Hayman led the Lumberjacks, scoring 24 points on 9-12 from the field. 

Injuries have seen the Lumberjacks struggle later in the season, losing five of their last six games.

The Vaqueros
UTRGV is 6-23 on the year and 2-16 in WAC play. The Thunderbird's last victory came against the Vaqueros back on Feb 3. 

UTRGV is currently on an L12 streak and will take on Utah Tech on Thursday before facing SUU. 

Injuries have also played a large part in the Vaqueros struggles this season, they have had 11 different players start a game this season. 

Daylen Williams is the only player to play in all 29 games this season for the Vaqueros.
