CEDAR CIT, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Basketball team is battling the injury bug; with Dominique Ford missing his second-straight game and Tavi Jackson missing tonight's game as well, the Thunderbirds fell to CBU 60-76.
Head Coach Rob Jeter said
"We are obviously short-handed, but that is no excuse for us to come out as flat as we did. We played a lot better in the second-half and there are some positives to take away but ultimately we have to control what we can control, and our effort and discipline have to be better."
Top T-Birds
- Hercy Miller nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds in just 24 minutes.
- Jamir Simpson led all scorers with 17 points on only three made field goals.
- Lorenzo Abellar started in place of the injured Jackson and scored 13 points, had two rebounds, and two assists.
Game Recap
The Thunderbirds had nowhere to turn offensively in this game, scoring just 20 points in the entire first half, and only four players recorded a point. With the offense struggling, the team needed a strong defensive half but could not slow down the Lancers and former Thunderbird Martel Williams, who had 16 points in the first half. CBU led 46-20 heading into the break.
SUU came out with some defensive energy in the second half. Holding the Lancers to just two points for the first seven minutes of the second half. The T-Birds got the lead down to 16 multiple times, but every time SUU had the momentum, the Lancers would score a basket.
A five-point burst from walk-on Cade Brazier had the game finish at a 16-point loss for the Thunderbirds.
