CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah Softball has announced the signing of three talented student-athletes set to join the program in the fall of 2026. The newest Thunderbirds, Savanah Duncan, Nina Montenegro, and Audrey Prado, will bolster the roster with their versatility and power, as the program prepares to transition from the Western Athletic Conference to the Big Sky Conference next year.
Head Coach Don Don Williams Said
"I'm thrilled to welcome this 2026 class to our softball family. Though small in number, this group was recruited with great intentionality to bring depth and versatility to our roster as we chase a conference title. Each of these athletes is a fierce competitor who plays with grit, passion, and heart. They bring offensive production and the ability to impact the game at multiple defensive positions. Most importantly, they reflect the relentless work ethic and family-first culture that define our program. We can't wait to get them on campus and see the immediate impact they'll make."
Duncan, a first baseman and outfielder from Chino Hills, California, currently attends Mater Dei High School and competes with Explosion Premier 18U. Known for her strength at the plate and ability to play multiple positions, Duncan has been a key contributor for one of California's top club programs.
Montenegro, an infielder from Mesa, Arizona, brings athleticism and leadership from her time at Red Mountain High School and with Rogue FC. A power hitter from the left side, she adds home run potential to the lineup.
Prado, a true utility player from South El Monte, California, attends St. Paul High School and competes with ZT Sting. Her quick hands, fielding range, and steady offensive production make her a valuable addition to the Thunderbird lineup.
Together, the trio represents the next generation of Southern Utah Softball, a group defined by competitive drive, strong fundamentals, and a commitment to growth on and off the field.
Southern Utah will compete this spring in its final season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference before joining the Big Sky Conference in the summer of 2026.
